On Saturday I got up around 10:00. After a warm shower and some coffee I went off to meet the girls. We went to China town for lunch and a little bit of shopping. I bought a sweater. Now I think I finally have enough clothes to survive this cold weather! I also used the day to drop off my laundry. The place that I took it to washed all of my clothes and had them ready for me when I came back all for about $3 U.S. dollars! Also, I’m not sure what kind of detergent they used but my clothes smell amazing. I want to bottle the scent and bring it back with me… During the late afternoon I took a nap and met the new roommates. During supper a bunch of the extended family was here! I got to meet a whole bunch more of the grandkids (who are all absolutely adorable!) After supper I taught them how to play pass the pigs. It was the best part of the whole meal. They were all thrilled and while I was teaching them this listened very intently. One was sitting on my lap and another one was touching my hair and starring at my earrings. I was wondering what she was so curious about until she asked me why I had three in each ear! I didn’t know what to say, so my response was why not! After supper, it was off for another night out. This time we started at an “American” club. This place is pretty popular among the locals so it didn’t really feel all that American besides the 80’s music (there was a lot of Michael Jackson) and the signs advertising their beer pong night every Tuesday! We hung out at this bar until 2:00 when the party would just be starting at other places. We went to this place called Jackie-O’s. All of the bartenders where wearing Jack Daniels shirts. We had to wait in line to get in…and then we waited in another line to get to the third floor. Once there, we danced and hung out until almost 6:00. There were a lot of locals and the place was so close to my house that I’ll probably have to go back several times. After a short cab ride home the new roommates and I went to bed a little after 6:00.
Today I got up at 11:00 and got ready to head out again. I met everybody at the subway station to go to lunch and the fair in San Telmo. For lunch we ate at this pizza joint. I ordered the specialty pizza with the same name as the restaurant. It was delicious! It had some weird toppings thought including tomatoes, eggs, ham, and olives. We walked around the fair for a couple of hours. At one point we stopped in at Freddo to have some more amazing ice-cream. I got home from the fair at about 6:30 and right away started napping. After a couple of hours of much needed shut eye I woke up for another asado! This week’s asado featured the best steak of my life. Don’t get me wrong, South Dakota beef is good, but it just didn’t quite compare! The steak was served with a friend sweet red pepper which was just amazing. If I wasn’t walking so much I would really be concerned about gaining weight here since the food is just beyond words.
